How to Study in Canada
Canada’s immigration system, like many other countries has a system of visas designed to grant access to the country based on purpose.
In order to work in Canada one has to get a work permit. If someone wants to go to school in Canada, they have to get a student visa.
Regardless of what level of education a student may be they will still have to get a study permit. The exception to this is if they are in Canada under a parent’s visa or if they have Permanent Residency.
Getting a study permit can be somewhat involved and it is very important to file the forms correctly.
Because schools often operate on rigid schedules, it is important to obtain one’s study permit well in advance of the start of school.
It would be very inconvenient to have one’s visa delayed and miss out on the first weeks of school.
