What is Express Entry?

The Express Entry system is a new required program that immigrants looking for employment based immigration programs must sign up.

Hopeful employees sign up for the Express Entry system and then Canadian employers select people from that list to hire and help immigrate to Canada.

Who is eligible for the Express Entry System?

There really aren't eligibility requirements with the way that the Express Entry system works.

Instead, people interested in immigrating to Canada for work enter their job-relevant information into the system and they are then ranked.

The most eligible workers entered into the system are the ones who get a first chance at permanent residency in Canada.

What does the IRCC (formerly known as CIC) look for in Express Entry applicants?

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (IRCC) is the government organization that runs the Express Entry Program based on Ministerial Instructions, meaning that the original impetus of the program comes from the Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism.

When you create your Express Entry profile, you'll give the IRCC (formerly known as CIC) and future employers information about your

• Work experience
• Language ability (English and French are highly valued in Canadian immigration because those two languages are the official languages of Canada)
• Education

In many ways, your Express Entry profile is quite a bit like an extended resume.
